Description

A brass sunburst pendant engraved with the image of the Gnostic God Abrasax. The reverse bears the barbarous words: “IAW”, “ABRASAX”, and “CAULACAU”. The first is a variant spelling of IAO, a famous Greek name sometimes linked with YHVH, but often used in gnostic writings. The second is the name of the god that is equal to the number of days in the year. The final word is “CAULACAU” and it is in this name that the Gnostic Savior ascended and descended and was rendered invisible and incomprehensible to the angels and all the powers.
